Labeling someone an alarmist or a conspiracy theorist generally makes for a bad argument

I don't know anyone who does not find something alarming or who does not read between the lines. Everyone takes safeguards to avoid danger if it's worthwhile and it's generally accepted that politicians deceive the public. Most would agree, in a healthy democracy the people must be free to question the narrative and that naivety aids tyranny. Regardless of how extreme you perceive them or how preposterous their argument may be, it's much better to point out why you don't see the need to be concerned about something in particular or why you think something is unlikely to be true, instead of accusing them of committing something that is irrelevant and something you do when it is valid.

It may be worthy to highlight their argument relies on a conspiracy theory with no hard facts to support it but pointing out someone is a conspiracy theorist like yourself, is no more helpful than pointing out they wear socks like you do too.
