I often hear world leaders being criticised for not showing leadership. I suspect when people say this they are not really asking to be led, they want others to be lead in the direction they want. If you value democracy and consensus, how is it helpful to pretend you want to be led? Concentrating power into a single person can be very dangerous as history has shown. Not all leaders are as bad as Hitler or Stalin, but had fewer people subscribed to the importance of being led, they would not have been able to do what they did.
