Because everyone does what they do as a result of their nature and nurture, there is no rational argument for why anyone needs to be punished. Arguments should be made for why people should not harm others. Though force may be needed at times to prevent someone from harming others, this does not imply there is a need for anyone to be brought to justice by punishing them. If someone needs to be locked up to prevent them from harming others, it does not have to be viewed as them being punished any more than a crocodile needs to be punished for wanting to eat people.
